John Hollinger's per-minute rating of a player's box-score production. It adds positive contributions (made shots, free throws, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks) and subtracts negative ones (missed shots and free throws, turnovers, fouls), weights each by its league-average value, adjusts for team pace, and normalizes so the league average is 15.0 every season.

Formula
uPER = (1 ÷ MP) × [box-score terms weighted by the league value of a possession] aPER = uPER × (league pace ÷ team pace) PER = aPER × (15 ÷ league-average aPER)
On StatVault
Computed in-house for every NBA player-season in the box-score corpus (2002–present), normalized so the minutes-weighted league mean is exactly 15.0 for each season and season type. Shown in every NBA profile's advanced table and ranked on the single-season PER board (1,500+ minutes). No career PER is computed — averaged career rates are not published.
