A skater's on-ice goal differential: plus one when he is on the ice for a goal his team scores at even strength or shorthanded, minus one when he is on the ice for an even-strength goal against or a shorthanded goal against while his team is on the power play. Power-play goals for and penalty-shot goals do not count. The NHL has recorded it officially since 1967–68. It depends heavily on teammates, opponents and goaltending.
