NBA Era-Adjusted Seasons

The greatest NBA single seasons expressed in one modern currency. Each season keeps how far it stood above its own year's peers, then that standing is re-projected onto today's league — so a 1949 campaign and a 2026campaign can be ranked on the same board without either era's scoring environment tilting the answer.

How this is computed

each season's VAL is z-scored against its OWN (season, position-group) peer distribution, then re-projected onto the group's most-recent rated season — translated = targetMedian + z·(targetSpread) — so every era is expressed in one modern currency.

the ranking is BETWEEN eras: a season's within-era standing (its robust z) is preserved, then re-expressed against today's peers — it is not a claim the player would literally produce this line now
schedule and rule-era shifts are absorbed by the peer-relative construction — a lockout-shortened season is measured against its own shortened-season peers, never rescaled by an ad-hoc games multiplier
a (season, group) bucket under 30 qualified peers — source OR target — mints no projection, so thin early-league seasons never fabricate a modern equivalent
robust spread (IQR/1.349) keeps the outliers being ranked from inflating the yardstick they are measured with
